An Update On Our Belmar Groves Renovation Project

In 2023, Metro West Housing Solutions (MWHS) embarked on a major renovation of Belmar Groves, one of our 18 communities. This comprehensive project focuses on upgrading both the exterior and interior of the buildings, as well as enhancing shared spaces, to ensure that Belmar Groves continues to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our residents. Conveniently located just one block from Lakewood’s popular Belmar Shopping District , Belmar Groves offers residents easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment, all while enjoying views of the city and mountains. The community offers a variety of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units, accommodating a range of family sizes and needs.

Inside the units, the renovation will include modernizing kitchens and bathrooms, installing new flooring, and upgrading lighting and plumbing fixtures. All appliances will be replaced with new, energy-efficient models, and improvements will be made to heating and cooling systems to ensure greater comfort and sustainability for our residents.

The exterior rehabilitation will feature new siding, windows, roofs, and entry doors, significantly enhancing the overall look and durability of the buildings. In addition, updated landscaping will bring new sensory gardens, BBQ areas, and playgrounds, providing residents with welcoming outdoor spaces that promote relaxation, recreation, and community engagement.

We are also expanding and upgrading shared community spaces. New additions will include a fitness center, updated gathering spaces for resident events, and a computer center to support digital access and connectivity. These improvements are designed to foster a sense of community while addressing residents’ diverse needs and lifestyles.

A key focus of the renovation is improving accessibility features, reinforcing MWHS’s commitment to providing inclusive, fair, and equitable housing for all. The enhancements ensure that Belmar Groves is a place where everyone feels welcome and can fully participate in community life.

As of August 2024, 32 of the 118 units have been fully renovated, and exterior improvements on three buildings are now complete. This transformative work has been made possible thanks to vital support from grants provided by the EPA, the Colorado Division of Housing, and Jefferson County along with Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) allocated by CHFA. MWHS anticipates the full renovation will be completed by early 2025, marking a major milestone in our ongoing mission to create and sustain affordable housing opportunities for the community.
