Three residents at our Creekside community are getting ready to go on trips of a lifetime. Meet Shirley, Tony, and Connie, who were all chosen to receive a once-in-a-lifetime chance through Wish of a Lifetime, a Denver-based nonprofit on a mission “to shift the way society views and values our oldest generations by fulfilling seniors’ dreams and sharing their stories to inspire those of all ages.”
Shirley will be heading to London and Birmingham to see the sights and take in the history. But what is she most looking forward to? “Seeing my grandchildren.” They live in Birmingham, England, and she hasn’t seen then since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Shirley’s trip is one of the earliest wishes to be granted after wishes were paused due to the pandemic.
Tony will be spending some time in Olympic National Forest, soaking up nature, hiking, and even going on a whale watching tour. In a “small world” twist, the photographer going along just so happens to be an old friend with whom Tony lost contact some years ago. “It’s not the age,” Tony says. “It’s the energy.”
Connie will be traveling to Yellowstone with her grandson, taking a guided tour through the park and crossing off a bucket list item of seeing Old Faithful in person. “It really is going to be the trip of a lifetime. My grandson and I will have a trip to remember for the rest of our lives.”
We can’t wait to hear all about the incredible trips that Shirley, Tony, and Connie will take! A huge shoutout to Kirsten, our Resident Services Coordinator, who facilitated the application process and has helped coordinate logistics for our residents and Wish of a Lifetime.
